FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

There are 2 parts required by the Michigan Medical Marijuana Program that need to be completed in order to receive you med card. The first part will be completed through Green Cross Partners, then the second part is completed through the state of Michigan's Department of LARA.

1. WHAT CRITERIA DO I NEED MEET TO QUALIFY FOR A MEDICAL MARIJUANA CARD?

(1) Must be a state of Michigan resident

(2) Must be able to provide a valid MI drivers license/state ID card

(3) Must have at least one state qualifying condition

The doctor is looking to make sure you have a state qualifying condition. Check out the list of qualifying conditions created by the MMM Review Panel to see which conditions are applicable to you.

The state is looking to make sure you are a Michigan resident to qualify to the state-specific laws.  If your MI drivers license/state ID card is expired or if you recently moved here and don't have your state of MI id yet, please take care of this with the Secretary of State before you start the process of getting a med card.

2. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET THE CARD?

A digital temporary med card will be emailed within 3 business days of registration.

Your physical, hard-card will arrive in the mail in about 7-10 business days of registration.

You can easily complete the entire process - from start to finish - in one day. This means you can wake up in the morning, schedule an appointment for that same day, complete the LARA online registration right after the appointment, and receive the digital temp card via email by the late afternoon. Yes, it can be that quick!

3. HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Schedule your doctor appointment.

You can do this on the home page of our website. Then complete the following:

  • Select Full-Service or Basic Service & select an appointment date/time

  • Fill out the Pre-Qualification form, accept "Terms & Conditions" & click the "Complete Appointment" button to secure appointment

  • Receive confirmation email with payment link & complete payment

4. WHAT DO I NEED TO PROVIDE AT MY APPOINTMENT?

Nothing. Simply be by your phone at the time of your appointment. You will already have provided all the information we need when you signed up for the appointment & filled in the Pre-Qualification form.

5. HOW MUCH WILL IT COST ME TO GET MY MED CARD?

The total cost is $110 with our Basic Service option.

The total cost is $130 with our Full-Service option.

6. WHAT IF I NEED TO RENEW AN EXISTING CARD, DO YOU GUYS DO RENEWALS?

Absolutely. The overall process is really quite similar whether you are a first-time cardholder or are renewing an existing card. Both require you schedule a doctor's appointment to get approved (or re-approved for renewals), go on the state's LARA website to fill out the online registration, and then wait for your shiny new card to arrive in the mail!

7. WHAT IF MY MED CARD HAS EXPIRED?

No problem. You will simply register as if you were a first-time card holder. Following the same overall process of completing the doctor appointment and registering online with the state.

8. SO, WHERE EXACTLY IS THE DIFFERENCE IN THE PROCESS FOR RENEWING A CARD THAT IS HAS NOT EXPIRED YET?

One small section in the online registration process. If your med card is not expired, the LARA registration process will link up your new card to the ID numbers on you current card. If your med card is expired, you will just be given a new number on your new card.

9. WHAT IF I WANT TO ADD A CAREGIVER?

If you want to add a caregiver at the same time you register for a new card (or renew an existing card), you will need to use the state's mail-in paper registration application. This mail-in version of the med card registration includes a section specifically for adding a caregiver. Unfortunately, the LARA online registration does not have a section for caregiver information (not yet, anyway). Please note that the process of mailing in the paper registration application does take longer for you to receive your new med card than it would to register online. So keep that in mind when planning for a new card if you want add a caregiver immediately.

10. CAN I CHOOSE TO ADD A CAREGIVER LATER ON AFTER I HAVE RECEIVED MY CARD?

Yes, you will fill out and mail in the "Add/Change Caregiver Form". Then the state will print and mail out a new, updated med card for you that includes your caregiver info on the back of the card. Your caregiver will receive a caregiver card with your info on their card, as well.

11. WHO WILL BE ABLE TO ACCESS KNOWLEDGE THAT I AM A MEDICAL MARIJUANA CARDHOLDER?
